What is FOB and CIF when buying used machinery?

What it is

FOB (Free On Board) means the seller delivers the machine to the named Chinese port and clears it for export. From that point the buyer pays freight, insurance and destination costs.

CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) means the seller also pays ocean freight and marine insurance to the named destination port. The buyer still handles import clearance and inland transport.

FOB gives the buyer control over the forwarder; CIF is simpler when you do not have a forwarder in China. Neither term covers import duty or delivery to your yard.

Ask us for the model, tonnage or destination you have in mind — we reply with matching units and an FOB or CIF quotation.
