Rules differ by brand, but a few patterns help:
- Komatsu PW = wheeled (crawler is PC).
- Volvo EW = wheeled (crawler is EC).
- Caterpillar M series = wheeled (crawler is the number series, e.g. 320).
- Hyundai/Doosan wheeled models often carry a W (R60W, DH150W, DX125W).
The number usually indicates the size class, not the exact operating weight. Always confirm the plate on the exact machine.
