How do you insure a machinery shipment?

Marine cargo insurance is usually arranged for the invoice value plus freight and a margin, under institute cargo clauses. Check what is excluded: rust, wet damage, inadequate lashing and delay are common exclusions.

Photograph the machine before loading and after lashing, and keep the survey or loading report. If damage occurs, the claim depends on that evidence as much as on the policy.
