Answer

How do you check the travel system of a wheeled excavator?

The travel system is the part that differs most from a crawler machine, so inspect it directly:

  • Drive the machine and listen for axle, transmission and differential noise
  • Check for oil leaks at the drive motors, hubs and axle seals
  • Test steering lock-to-lock and the brakes, including the parking brake
  • Check tyre wear pattern — uneven wear can point to alignment or axle issues
  • Confirm the two-speed travel function and any diff-lock

A short running video covering these points is worth more than a dozen static photos.
